Friday afternoon

Surely you have heard the expression from Morton salt, "when it rains, it pours." On Wednesday Ann had noticed a soreness near the area where she was going to schedule a removal of tooth root from a damaged tooth. Yesterday she awakened to a puffy jaw and pain. We made contact with our dentist who told us to get her started her antibiotics immediately. She took  her meds at 2:30 PM and returned to bed to try to shake off the pain. When she came back down stairs in the evening, her jaw was doubled sized, she was running a fever and was in pain. We contacted the dentist again who recommended we get her to her office immediately, even though she had closed.
We started to prepare Ann to drive to the office, when Ann lost her sight and became extremely dizzy. Cheyenne ran and got her yogurt and later a little Coke to raise her blood sugar. A few moments later, she motioned that she was going to lose what she just drank. After vomiting, she wanted to clean her mouth. She leaned back in her chair and passed out, to the point that she stopped breathing and her eyes rolled back in her head. Cheyenne literally shouted "Mom!" several times before Mom responded. We rushed her to the ER where they started her on IV's and strong antibiotics. Today they did a CAT scan on her cheek to see the extent of the infection because of the radical results. She has some electrolytes out of whack, a little anemia and extreme abscess in her jaw. The doctor has called in a specialist of the jaw and face to check the extent of the infection. We expect that she will come home tomorrow, but some of this will require long-term treatment.
We again ask for your prayers in this matter. I have served as the first aid officer in a factory including many difficult injuries and a fireman, but this one got the best of me. Please pray for the family members as well as it was truly a drama witnessed by Cheyenne, Casey and Lance as well as me. Thank you for caring enough to pray.
Gary
