Wednesday, August 31

I have been reading and praying since before daylight this morning, simply because the Lord awakened me early. I had a really good time in His Word and have paused to reflect what He is doing in our ministry. It will amaze you if you take a few minutes and allow God to bring to memory all that He had done for you.      Last Sunday, God broke our church wide open. Our "sour" deacon who left and then returned wanting to be restored, asked if he could give an announcement. He stood to say that he did wrong in leaving and that he was the guilty one for giving Pedro the deed. He sat down and then popped up a few seconds later and added in great humility that he was guilty of all before the church and asked that they all forgive him. He then (while the closing of the service took place) knelt at the front and had several minutes of prayer with the Lord. After an awkward few minutes, I silently slipped beside him, put my arm around him and prayed silently with him. When he sto

Do you still believe in prayer? We are humble servants of the Lord who do not pray enough, but God has been busy answering our prayers. Lance, Cheyenne's son, came to spend a few days with us before going back to school (starts today). While here, we had a "bonfire" for him (more the size of a campfire but to a 6 year old, it was big). After the campfire died down and we roasted marshmallows on sticks, we chatted about Hell and the need of all people to be saved. We were pleasantly surprised at his understanding and the application. One answered prayer - his eyes are being opened concerning HIS salvation and he is very tender about the concept.      Yesterday after the church service, Cheyenne needed to get the bus pass for Lance for school, so we headed out three hours after the service, but "early" for the deaf. We met Pedro at the gate, greeted him and told him we had to hurry along - he was only late three hours plus for the service. As we started toward

We had another terrific Sunday, but one that was a little different. I had decided to confront our ex-deacon because they begged to come back to the services seven months ago and we permitted that IF they would complete their requirements to make full repentance before the church and make amends and corrections for what they had done before. They readily agreed, but have not made any move towards meeting with the members and making the necessary repairs. Their daughter got married last Saturday (31st) so I did understand why they left immediately after the service last week. They were exhausted. I decided that it would work better yesterday anyhow.      Rigo came by himself yesterday and did not bring his wife. The deaf were pressuring me about what to do. They could see the need but did not want to tackle the issue by themselves. We met with him after the service as a board of directors. His first response was, "I'll just go to another city and another church."    P

Psalm 103:17   But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children; Dear Praying Friends,      We are thrilled to be back with our deaf in the ministry to which God has called us. It has been a very active two months, but a greatly blessed time. We went to our Field Conference in May, and were greatly blessed by the time with fellow missionaries. We remember pastors saying that no one could understand a pastor like a fellow pastor, and the saying certainly applies to missionaries. It was a wonderful time of fellowship and uplifting in the Word. We were able to pass by and visit shortly with family and friends before we headed out to the border.      In June we were blessed to be able to help the Kilpatricks on the Texas border with a special group of young people who had come to offer their services as a work party. They were also interested sign language so we taught them each day a few signs they co
