September 8, 2008 Lord willing, we will be on our way in the next two days. The water was finally going down this morning until it started to rain! Our plans did change this past week concerning storage. I went to check on a storage building to rent and discovered the smallest unit available rents for $72 a month (8X10)! We cleared out the kids' room in our trailer and decided to stack everything there, even though it goes to the roof. It has ranged from 98-105 degrees daily, so a hard day's work (8AM-8PM) doesn't seem to render as much as it should. It normally requires three changes of clothing because of soaking the others to the point they cannot be tolerated any more (shoulders to knees). We have waded the waters until we are sick of seeing them. The other day, I took a plastic truck box out to the storage building. The dolly got stuck in the mud and the truck box floated off. I finished the trip by floating the box the rest of the way to the storage area. Eve

Monday, 1 September, 2008 We are FINALLY trying to dry out again. The highway was still flooded both North and South until yesterday afternoon. The South stretch opened almost a lane down the middle. Today it has dropped below the pavement and is apparently drying up. The northern stretch is still completely shut off. We have to drive around the barriers to get into the mission, but that is legal. The driving through eight inches of water two or four times a day was getting old (going south). Our storage building has finally cleared the water as of this morning. It never got into it the second time but did cover the bottom of it until last night sometime since the rains last weekend. Our only problem now are the Texas mosquitoes. They are between 1/2 and 3/4 of an inch long with mouth parts proportionate. When they bite, they hurt! This is obviously Ann's arm. I couldn't stand still long enough to let a mosquito land and then bite me while taking a picture. Any time we
