Dear Praying Friends,
This is just a short update to keep you in the loop on our family and ministry,
Gary continues to endure the Psoriatic Arthritis, that is not a complaint, it's just a statement. There is no cure, so it is a matter of making it as good as possible. I still have fatigue and have been un an downward curve the last the last couple of weeks. Suddenly, my blood pressure goes down, my glucose up along with my Triglycerides, and a few aches in the joints. No complaints because it has been much worse.
Ann has done well controlling her Essential Tremors, but that requires additional rest and a regular schedule, which we are not good at.
Family – you can imagine how excited the family is. THE very first game was played here at our stadium, in which Mexico won! The streets were filled to the brim with excitement. Last night, Mexico played the third game in Mexico City, but many of our local players are on the team. We have a famous traffic circle with Minerva in the center. There were 27,000 people in that traffic circle, plus another 50,000 in another location. The city went wild (in a good way) upon the third goal. No, we did not attend any of the games. We couldn't afford the parking, much less the entrance.
Ministry – the ministry goes slowly, but we still have not seen the growth we would like to see. The Deaf do not seem to be backslidden, but are slow to return to being faithful. The World Cup series hasn't helped any. Pray for faithfulness.
Security – security has been regular, but now, during the games, two groups have threatened to close down the city to get the government's attention: the farmers and transportation. They both have a temporary agreement with the government, but it is due to expire. Neither is able to keep up with inflation and the government is not agreeing with an increase with either. They have closed a couple of highways into town, but so far, no total closure as promised. What better time to get the federal government's attention than when there are ? thousands of foreign visitors here?
World Cup – Yes, we are rooting for the USA in the cup. But since we have lived here for 43+ years, we are thrilled to see Mexico do so well. We are happy to see thousands of foreigners in and out of our city and the pride of the people here to see their team in the spotlight of the world. We are just as proud of the USA having done so well, especially as we celebrate the 250th Anniversary of our founding. Wish we could be there for the Fourth of July!!
Thank you for praying. God bless you all.
Gary and Ann
