Dear Praying Friends,

THANK YOU FOR PRAYING FOR YOUR MISSIONARIES! A few minutes after 8 AM this morning a horrific burst of gunfire ran out just outside our gate, followed by a dozen or so single shots (like a pistol).  I figured that it was a shoot-out with the police. I was downstairs and my cellphone was upstairs, so I went up to write our daughter to stay put. As I started writing, another burst rang out and I could hear the bullets buzzing by my window.  Another round of pistol shots rang out followed by a third round of AK/ARs. A few shots continued through the village and finally all was quiet.

After ten minutes or so, I could hear the neighbors talking out at the highway, so we walked out to see what had just happened. VERY near our door were three vehicles burning in one direction and two or more in the other. For the moment, everything is mostly quiet (3:15) even though we have been warned that they are still in the area.

Please forgive that I am not giving specific areas or locations, but rather generalities. We are all safe for now and are in the Lord's hands. We were able to warn the deaf by messenger, even though they we starting on their way to church. The airport was closed for several hours since armed groups arrived there and then fled. All bus stations are closed. Several over the road buses were burned. All public transportation is canceled. We are under red alert, meaning lock your doors, stay inside and try to stay calm. Almost all traffic is not existent. The toll roads are closed  as are many regular highways.

Please continue to pray for your contacts throughout this country. There are same style reactions all the way to the border. Pray for one another.
