Tuesday, February 24, 2026 About Noon today, the governor dropped the Red Alert for Jalisco. Nearly at the same time, the US Embassy dropped the "shelter in place" alert for all Americans. We are not out of the woods completely because some areas even in our state still have major problems. Surrounding states are still involved in conflicts. That moves us to an orange alert which means eyes open to our surroundings and no unnecessary movements. There have been more than 200 tractor-trailers burned taking the lives of at least six drivers. I am sure the same can be said for drivers of private vehicles. Our city looks like a war zone (which it was). We hear all kinds of numbers of police and National Guards that have been killed as well as many "bad guys." PLEASE DO NOT SHARE THIS ON THE INTERNET Day 2 - Things are slowly returning to order, although there are still reports of blockades in some parts. We are still under "shelter in place" orders and do so happily. The traffic in front of our house is moving after the authorities starting to remove burned vehicles. At 3:00 PM, both sides of the highway (four lanes) are opened enough for fluid flow, even though traffic is light. ( See the video in your email . ) It is still recommended that we do not present ourselves outside our walls as there are extra eyes everywhere seeking information about anyone. Dear Praying Friends, THANK YOU FOR PRAYING FOR YOUR MISSIONARIES! A few minutes after 8 AM this morning a horrific burst of gunfire ran out just outside our gate, followed by a dozen or so single shots (like a pistol). I figured that it was a shoot-out with the police. I was downstairs and my cellphone was upstairs, so I went up to write our daughter to stay put. As I started writing, another burst rang out and I could hear the bullets buzzing by my window. Another round of pistol shots rang out followed by a third round of AK/ARs. A few shots continued through the village and finally all was quiet. After ten minutes or so, I could hear the neighbors talking out at the highway, so we walked out to see what had just happened. Dear Praying Friends, I (Gary) received extra good news today from my rheumatologist. Cheyenne called to see if we could change the day of the week for taking the low-dose chemo treatment used for my psoriatic arthritis. I have been taking it for two weeks and it has knocked the strength out of me. My rheumatologist immediately said to stop the treatment and return to my previous medicine. I was ready to go the distance, but it was keeping me from our ministry. I was taking the treatment every Saturday, as directed, but it was making any effort nearly impossible due to the harshness of the medicine and the lack of strength. I am scheduled to have lab tests on Monday and will then be cleared for biologics, medicines derived from living organisms as opposed to chemical entities. They have promised that this will really make a difference with the disease. I had just gone back to my rheumatologist in January and she r...
