But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:57

Dear Praying Friends,

We praise the Lord for His faithfulness and for the daily victories He gives through Christ. Each day belongs to Him, and we recognize His goodness to us.

We are touched by the interest of many in the ongoing battle with Gary’s psoriatic arthritis. The end of May, Gary returned to his rheumatologist after the extensive exam via ultrasound of every joint. His rheumatologist was surprised that he was walking and moving after seeing his sonogram. She stated that his body was extremely inflamed and that he obviously handled pain better than most. She also stated that because of the vast amount of inflammation, we must stay with the regimen to keep the inflammation in check. At present that means no sugars, no gluten and no red meat. He is also on a strong anti-arthritis drug which helps his body keep the inflammation controlled.

We are thrilled with the results overall, but realize this battle is not a short one. Some have required up to six years to return to normal. At present, everything is doable, except lifting. There are still certain rotations which cause discomfort, but he has been able to teach his class and to keep a somewhat normal schedule. He has a physical therapist who uses exercise, acupuncture and deep massage to help keep him moving.

Our deaf group at church continues to struggle number-wise. We recently read a newsletter from 2019 which shared that our attendance averaged 62. We are still trying to average 20 at present. The pandemic caused many different issues, since we were mandated to no public meetings for almost two years. Many of our deaf have been recalled to their jobs in factories, but with the curse of swing-shift scheduling. It is mandatory, so they cannot refuse an order to work on Sunday. Others lost interest having missed so many months of regular services.

Please continue to pray for safety here, not only for us, but also for our deaf. Many of you are seeing the same type of dangers where the individual is not involved, but sadly an innocent bystander who is in the wrong place at the time. Just two nights ago, a business was hit within a couple of blocks from here. It was a kidnapping, but was broken up by a passing patrol. Our little corner of the world was converted into a shootout involving multiple kidnappers and the police. Praise God for protection. Our deaf will face the same thing, but may not even be aware that it is happening.

Thank you for caring enough to support the work and to seriously pray for us. We KNOW that it is through your prayers that we remain here. God bless you for being faithful.

For DEAF souls in Mexico,
