New Year update

 Dear Friends,

I hope to post a couple of updates in the next day or so, Lord willing. With this blog I can send more information than in a single letter.

We praise the Lord that with the new year, we have been able to resume church services. The deaf seem excited to restart the program again, but they have learned to be lazy these last two years concerning their attendance. We are praying that we will be able to keep the doors open without restrictions even though Omicron wants to hit about everyone. A few have sent notes suggesting everyone should be in the services (that can) and then they do not come themselves!

I am still sending videos out regularly to keep all the deaf interested in the Bible. For almost the full two years we have been closed. The government would open everything at 105, THEN 20, then 50. About that time, everything would close again. It would be several weeks and the process would duplicate itself.

I have been asked to explain what I do with the videos. I hope you know that all deaf are visual, as is their language. Therefore I cannot send a lengthy sermon printed and hope they glean enough out of it. First, I study until I have a good Scriptural lesson in general. It then needs to be put into words, thoughts and concepts the deaf understand. I then use PowerPoint to make a "slide" presentation quoting verses and main thoughts. Since I cannot save it that way to be readily read on a cell phone, I save the entire presentation as a jpeg (graphics). that is then out into a movie making program. Between each slide, I need to put a video explaining it all in signs. Those videos are recorded in a different program and then introduced into the movie making program. One slide is added and one video explanation until all of the presentation has been included as a slide and then a video.

Every slide or video has to be adjusted according to the time needed to read or view the slide/video. When all has been corrected, I save the presentation and then render it for downloading to social media. At the end of this process, it has usually taken between two to three days' work to have a finished program. If I become a long winded preacher or the subject is much more difficult, more time is needed. Wouldn't it be great to have an AV department who could process all of this for me? No, it still needs the personal side so that they know I have invested the time to make it personal tot them.

Thank you for praying for us and for the ministry. It is because you care that we are able to continue.

Lesson on right, Video on left.

. God bless.
