Dear Praying Friends,
We are desperately trying to be patient concerning our connection with the world, but it is still hard. When we left on furlough in 2012, we passed our phone line and Internet over to our neighbor rather than pay a year while we were gone. Now, upon returning last year, we were told there aren't enough lines to get a new phone line. Tomorrow, a new law goes into effect which will make the government owned telephone service open their lines to receive connections from other companies. That means that folks like us can receive service from other companies through the fiber optics of the phone company. Therefore, we should have offers from several new companies to connect.
We are so excited about the deaf. Our deaf who have been with us for many years have dwindled (death, fleeing to the USA, old age) to about two. However, the attendance is still strong because the church is now composed of mainly late teens and young adults. Their minds are wide open and they are constantly quizzing us (Ann and I) about Bible questions. Sunday they asked about those who arrive at their door and try to teach strange ideas about the Bible. This week I "taught" them Hebrews 1:3. I say "taught," because I work desperately not to interfere with the preaching of our leader. These sessions always take place after the preaching so we don't step on his leadership. A long period later, a white board full of illustrations and additional verses, and they are ready for anyone to approach them about the Divinity of Christ.
We had a wonderful three days with our seven grandchildren. We ran a "camp" for them here at the farm during Holy Week where the theme was obviously what Christ did for us to make it Holy Week. They stayed all night so we ran it just like a regular camp. There were a few rough times, but all went well considering they aged from four to thirteen. We were able to present salvation in many different ways to give them a clearer picture. We were exhausted but happy that we could interest them in their own need of salvation. Only one has asked the Lord to save him.
We also had a visit from Roberto P. from Juarez. He is one of the most faithful deaf men here in Mexico. We first met him many years ago as we attended the ordination of another deaf man.Shortly thereafter he moved to Juarez. He has faithfully pastored a deaf church there ever since and is a favorite among the deaf. He often re-enacts passages from the Bible complete with robes, beards and props he has personally made. We praise the Lord for him and his faithfulness to the ministry. We wish we had a dozen more with his character and burden.
A news letter is in the making and will be out soon if we can keep our borrowed Internet connection running. Thank you for your faithful prayers and support. Keep asking the Lord to use us to win more for Him.
Gary & Ann

Praise the Lord - always good to read your posts and pray for you and the Deaf in Mexico. This year, for the first time in several years I will not be going to Mexico for deaf camp. I am passing the baton to David and Crystal this year and hope to be back next year.

Jim
