Wednesday

WELL, it has happened! Last night the bad guys established 8-10 blockades throughout the city primarily to show that they could. If you remember an earlier post, the first one tried ended with 10 arrested and the governor stating that they will not allow such things here. Yesterday was the day the governor was to turn in his state of the state address and it was widely published that he was out of town.
All of the attacks started almost precisely at 9 PM. They stopped a tractor-trailer on the way to the airport, moved it across the lanes of traffic and set it on fire. They boarded a city bus as regular passengers and at the given time, forced the driver to stop at gunpoint. They ordered everyone off and then burned the bus. They stopped a car and a taxi and threw a Molotov cocktail at them causing damage, but a neighboring shop quickly quenched the flames. They tried to make another bus stop on the tracks of the metro train, but he refused and was wounded by a gunshot. A police sub-station was hit with a grenade and one policeman injured. A couple of other attacks were reported, but the drivers were able to extinguish the vehicles with little damage.
One of our cities in the  metropolitan area (there are five) have asked for the Army to be brought in to control the streets. It looks like we are also being totally engulfed by the drug groups as has most of Mexico. It's just another pressure put on the people of this city and country.
We had a good Sunday service with one saved after the service. We were able to set up a temporary mesa directiva,  a type of board of directors, to help guide the church in this time of transition. There is a good spirit among the people, but still a lot of suspicion towards those who returned so quickly after stating they would never set foot in the church again. Everyone is trying to get back to normal, but with one eye on those who left.
Fernando has been doing a good job of leading the church and has matured tremendously since becoming a father. It seems his attitude has changed from just getting by to moving forward. Please continue to pray for the church, the country and for souls to be saved and walk with Him.
