Active church

While we were on furlough in 2007, the church invited Armando Hernandez to become the pastor of the church. However, they failed to make anything official as far as offering him a "call" or putting anything down on paper. We have been  working with Armando so we could correct the oversight and make him "official." The church called a business meeting for yesterday following the service. We had 41 of 58 total members present which was a victory in itself. Of the 41 present, 23 were welcomed in as new members. The session went well without problems and the vote was 38 in favor and three opposed (we are a Baptist church after all). It gave Armando a wonderful feeling to know that it was so near unanimous. That amounts to 93% of the vote. Three men were unable to be baptized last week with the other 7. They begged until Armando agreed to baptize them yesterday, without their bringing clothes, towels or anything else and in water that had stood for one week with temperatures in the mid 30's at night. The water was not warmed and all three simply stood frozen in time for about 6-7 seconds after coming back up out of the water. However, all three were excited and thrilled that they obeyed the Lord, regardless of the temperature of the water. That makes 11 in the last two weeks.
We do still hope to get pictures from last week's service to share with you. We have to ask the deaf to find out who has good pictures and then to ask their permission to use them.
Ann is doing well save a little stiffness at the site of the surgery. Since it was done laparoscopic, there is much less invasion and therefore much less recuperation. Pray for her as we have a 12 hour trip planned for tomorrow, probably broken into two days. Thank you so much for your prayers for Ann during this sickness. She got an all-OK from her doctor last Tuesday, both for the pathology and for her physical condition.
Thank  you so much for continuing to pray for us as we labor for the Lord. May God greatly bless you today.
