Armando's Family

Armando Hernandez, our pastor at Guadalajara, took a few days with his folks after camp because his dad was having physical problems. Armando stayed a few extra days because the doctors eventually found cancer in him. Armando returned with his sister, Brenda, and the first weekend they were here, Brenda got her ankle broken playing games. They put it in a half cast, but her leg at the top of the cast turned purple and ached. After a few days, the doctors told her she needed a screw put in the back of her heel to pull the two pieces together. Since she didn't have insurance, she decided to return home where a family friend is a doctor. He immediately told her she would need 3 screws and her leg was fractured at the mid-calf area. She would need surgery to repair the break. Thursday they operated (after 2 churches helped her with the costs) and put only 1 screw in and a full cast. Please pray for this Christian family in Monterrey. The father is in the hospital preparing for cancer surgery, the mother has trouble with extremely high blood pressure, and the daughter is recovering from foot surgery - yet, they are just praising the Lord.

New Ones
With Armando gone, the church has requested that I preach each week. Armando came back for 10 days between trips to Monterrey, but we have encouraged him to take time with his folks right now. Their plate is certainly full. He is hoping to return this week for our special Independence Day celebration this Sunday. In the time Armando has been gone, we have had five deaf saved. Armando will be pleasantly surprised when he returns. One family is especially a blessing as they had never gone to church, but are smart, appear to be very reliable and got 100% saved. Anyone who works in a ministry loves to see that kind of a decision. They are on fire and cannot get enough of the Word of God. I took him a copy of a new Christian's manual I am working on and asked him to critique it this week. He will give me the a view from a newly saved person (who doesn't know the jargon) AND it will put essential follow-up material in his hands.

Ann
One of the articles I found to help Ann make her decision as to the type and extent of her surgery stated that if the cyst was a certain size, it could be watched and assessed over a period of time. Although hers is somewhat larger, she has decided to watch it and see if it will go away on its own. She is moving around without pain and has more energy. Please pray for wisdom for Ann and the doctors to know which surgery, when and to what extent. It certainly appears to be benign, but that cannot be absolutely verified without sectioning it. Thank you for your faithful prayers for her.

Although we have not been able to move to Tepic yet, God has been keeping us plenty busy. It seems that just at the moment when a new, young pastor was settling into the saddle just right, all his anchors pulled loose at the same time. He is doing fine, and will do fine, but please continue to pray for him and his family.
Thank you for caring and for being part of our service to the Lord. May God greatly bless you in your service to Him.
Gary & Ann
