The county or state finally approved 6,000 gallon tank trucks to truck away ??? millions of gallons of water. The area is miles square that is still under water. Dolly hit July 23, 2008!

     God has allowed us many neat experiences this furlough with meeting new churches, new pastors, faithful Christians along with several really neat new experiences. Friday we were able to experience a long awaited meeting. Several of us who attended Appalachian Bible College together for three years all got together for a short evening of reliving our "glory" days. Of the seven of us, five were in the same class and the sixth was a year ahead of us (plus Ann who did not attend ABC). Jerry and Kathy Matt have been good friends with whom we have been able to fellowship several times through the years. Jerry Marshall (my roommate) and his wife, Jan, just moved into this area a few months ago. Gene and Laurel Summers are from Huntington, but have not lived there for years. Some of us had not seen the others for about forty four years! We enjoyed a wonderful meal and time together until we all had to depart our different ways. All of us still serve the Lord.  ...

    Cloud Bursts Over Guadalajara     September 9, 2025 Psalm 91 :1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.   Dear Praying Friends,        How thankful we are that we have a safe place “under the shadow of the Almighty!” We have plenty of situations where we must say, “Thank you, Lord for protecting us.” Just recently I wrote saying that hopefully the worst of the rainy season has passed. WRONG! Usually, we have a rainy season from June to September. After the Spring storms it usually calms down a we get rainy days until September. Since I wrote, things have gotten much worse. Guadalajara is being flooded in different sections almost daily. This is not the usual flooded streets of two or three inches. Last night, a large part of the city was inundated so much that hundreds of people could not get home, the bus routes could not get through water that was up to the bo...

 Tuesday, February 24, 2026      About Noon today, the governor dropped the Red Alert for Jalisco. Nearly at the same time, the US Embassy dropped the "shelter in place" alert for all Americans. We are not out of the woods completely because some areas even in our state still have major problems. Surrounding states are still involved in conflicts. That moves us to an orange alert which means eyes open to our surroundings and no unnecessary movements. There have been more than 200 tractor-trailers burned taking the lives of at least six drivers. I am sure the same can be said for drivers of private vehicles.      Our city looks like a war zone (which it was). We hear all kinds of numbers of police and National Guards that have been killed as well as many "bad guys."  Local Mom & Pop corner stores were threatened at gun point to keep their shops closed yesterday.
